Grewia asiatica fruit is known as Phalsa or Falsa in Urdu and Hindi. Phalsa has lots of benefits and nutrition value. The fruit is commonly grown in Pakistan, India and Asian countries like Bangladesh, Nepal and Thailand. It is one of local cooling fruit in Asian countries, famous for cooling effects as well as for various other health benefits. The fruit has antioxidant properties, good source of vitamin c ,fibre calcium, sodium  and phosphorus. The fruit protects from sun radiations. Falsa could be eaten raw or sprinkling some salt and black pepper on the fruit. Phalsa juice is also very tasteful and People n nlove to drink sharbat phalsa or falsa. Indian people also love Phalsa kulfi to beat summer heat and sunstroke.

Phalsa berries are  small reddish purple fruit with seed insides it and has sour and sweet taste .All part of falsa tree are usable .The Phalsa grows during the peak summer months of May and June  yearly .

Recipe of Phalsa Juice or Sharbat :

Ingredients 

Phalse                                                   250 grams (1 ½ cups)
Water                                                   ½  litre
Sugar                                                     50 grams
Ground cumin seeds                             a pinch
Black salt                                              ½ tsp or to taste
Lemon juice                                       ½ lemon small
Ice

Preparation of Sharbat e Phalsa


First of all wash Phalse and soak them in water. Leave it for 15 minutes and grind it after grinding strain with strainer and remove seeds from juice. Add ground cumin powder, sugar and black salt and to the mixture. Mix ice in the Phalsa juice and juice is ready adding few drops of lemon juice and serve chilled drink.

Have you ever eaten preserved rose petals which are also called gulkand in Hindi (India) and Urdu. Gulkand is also available in market but homemade gulkand is considered more beneficial because it is made of fresh and clean rose petals without any chemical input. Gukand has lots of benefits with no side effects if used properly. Here I am sharing a simple recipe of making gulkand at home in few days.

Ingredients:

Rose Petals (Red)                                         250 Gram
Sugar or Misri (candy Sugar)                        250 Gram
Cotton Cloth        
Air tight Jar

Recipe /Method:

Take fresh rose petals wash with water so the dirt removed. Dry these petals with cotton cloth and put a layer in jar then a layer of sugar again a layer of rose petals and a layer of sugar cover with led.
Put this jar under the sun daily from 10:00 am to  4:00 pm while putting in sunlight closed jar with cotton cloth only and in night tightly closed with led.
It will take 3 to 4 weeks in preparation of rose preserve the tasty Gulkand. Enjoy this cooling tonic in all summer season and avoid many health issues e.g. inflammation, redness in eyes ,itching, pitta, hyper acidity, constipation, piles, skin-itching,  nose bleed, muscle pain, dark eye circles, fatigue, acne and skin blemishes.



Note: use wooden spoon for stirring the mixture

Gulqand or Gulkand is made from preserving fresh rose petals and sugar or misiri by traditional ayurvedic method. Muskmelon fruit has lots of health benefits for skin, diabetes, immune system, constipation, cancer, insomnia, urinary tract infections, ulcers, blood pressure, eye issues, pregnancy issues, lack of appetite, acidity and preventing the formation of kidney stones and heart decease.

Muskmelon is also known as cantaloupe, kharboza, rock melon, sweet melon, khurboza rock melon, Persian melon and khurboja. This Muskmelon in Hindi called “Kharbuja” and Muskmelon in Tamil called “Parangi pazham” ”Thalkumbalam” in Malayalam and in Kannada ”Karboja Hannu” .
